Data accuracy
Data accuracy & verification
How every record is sourced, checked, updated and corrected, so you can trust what you act on.
How records are sourced
Every fact in a HeyAlbert profile comes from a public source and carries a link to it: SEC filings, federal political contribution records, nonprofit tax filings, company and university pages, reputable news and similar records. No source, no fact. See the types of sources we use.
- Each item in a dossier must cite a source that was actually read; anything that cannot be tied to a gathered source is dropped.
- Estimates such as net worth, home value, wealth band, likely causes and political leaning are labeled as estimates and show their basis.
- People-search, genealogy and contact-data sites are blocked. Pages from them are never used as sources.
- Children and minors are never shown. Street addresses are removed; residence is shown at city level.
How records are checked
Every profile moves through four levels, described on the methodology page:
| Level | What happens |
|---|---|
| L1 · Source capture | The fact is tied to a public source URL. |
| L2 · Automated identity match | Name plus employer, city and role are cross-checked. Generic or same-name matches are rejected; ambiguous cases are flagged for review, never guessed. |
| L3 · Editorial review | A HeyAlbert editor opens the source and confirms, corrects or removes the fact. |
| L4 · Verified | A second editor signs off before the profile is marked Verified. |
Automated checks add two flags subscribers can see: likely marks a medium-confidence match (one matching identity signal), and not confirmed on page marks an item whose words could not be found on the source page. Photos are added only when the page identifies the person by name together with their company or city; when in doubt, no photo is shown.
How records are updated
Scheduled jobs re-check SEC filings and news every week, political contribution records and nonprofit filings every month, and property values each quarter as new records are loaded. Each dossier shows its version and last-refreshed date, and each fact keeps the date it was retrieved. See freshness.
How records are corrected
- Anyone can report an error, including the person a profile is about. Use the review and removal form or contact us.
- An editor reviews the report against the sources and corrects or removes the fact.
- Every change is recorded in the change log of the profile with who, when, what and the source, and can be reverted.
- When a check finds a systematic problem, such as a namesake being matched, the affected records are re-run with the tightened rule.
What we do not claim
Public sources can be wrong or out of date, and name-based origin inference is approximate. We do not publish an accuracy percentage. Instead, every fact shows its source and level so you can check it yourself before relying on it.
Accuracy questions
Do you publish an accuracy rate?
No. We show the source and verification level for every fact instead, so you can check any item yourself.
How do I report an error?
Use the review and removal form or email albert@heyalbert.site. An editor reviews it against the sources.
Are estimates verified?
Estimates are judgments, not facts. Each is labeled and shows its basis and the sources it was built from.
