Contra Costa County: San Ramon and Danville's $5M–15M Indian-American tier

Contra Costa's Asian Indian population grew about 30%, and 509 of the 813 people in our database there are at $5M+, mostly in the $5M–15M band.

Contra Costa County has about 48,700 residents of Asian Indian descent, up about 30% from the 2015–2019 survey [1][2]. They are 4.2% of the county [1][3].

What stands out in our data is the middle of the wealth range. Of 813 people in our database in the county at $1M+, 509 are at $5M+, and 488 of those sit in our $5M–15M band [8]. Fewer than 25 are in our $25M+ bands [8]. Contra Costa is a deep $5M–15M market with a thin top.

  • 48,735 residents of Asian Indian descent (alone or in combination) in Contra Costa County, California, 2020–2024 average [1], or 4.2% of the population [3].
  • +30.3% versus the 2015–2019 estimate of 37,394 [1][2] (our calculation).
  • 813 people in the HeyAlbert database placed in Contra Costa County, California at an estimated $1M+, of whom 509 are in our $5M+ bands [8].

What the HeyAlbert database shows in Contra Costa County, California

HeyAlbert builds profiles of Indian-American individuals with an estimated net worth of $1M or more from public records, and every estimate is tied to a cited source. Our database currently places 813 such people in Contra Costa County, California [8]. That is a count of people we have found and estimated, not a census of wealthy households: our coverage is partial and uneven.

Cities in our database are matched by name to the Census places and townships in the county; a few that straddle a county line are counted whole, and large cities that extend well beyond the county are left out.

San Ramon has 379 people in our set, 224 of them at $5M+ [8]. Danville has 198, and 176 of those are at $5M+ [8]. Alamo (61) and Orinda (60) add depth, and Lafayette has 45 [8]. The Tri-Valley suburbs carry almost all of our county count.

Why our Contra Costa County, California count looks the way it does

Each estimate in our database rests on a primary piece of public evidence. The mix differs from place to place, depending on which records we have been able to process, and it shapes the counts above more than any real difference in wealth does [8].

Primary evidence for the estimatePeopleShare
Other public signals (executive roles, company filings, gifts, pay)51864%
Home value (public assessor or listing records)16220%
Patent inventors (with company context)11114%

Source: HeyAlbert database [8], people at $1M+. Categories under 25 not shown.

Other public signals, mainly executive and company records, support 518 of our estimates, more than home values (162) [8]. Patents support 111 [8], a high number for one county. This is a professional and technical-executive market more than a home-equity one.

What it means if you work with these families

For advisors, Contra Costa's opportunity is concentrated and specific: technology and corporate executives in two or three Tri-Valley cities, many already past $5M. Equity compensation, concentrated stock and tax planning are likely to matter more here than first-time wealth questions.

Methodology

Census figures are American Community Survey 5-year estimates for 2020–2024 and 2015–2019, Table B02018, using “Asian Indian, alone or in any combination” [1][2]. Total population comes from Table B01003 [3]. The Census Bureau changed how it codes detailed race responses in 2020, so part of the change between the two periods may reflect coding rather than migration. All estimates carry margins of error. Shares and growth rates are our calculations.

HeyAlbert counts are aggregates from our database as of October 2026 [8]. They include people we identified as likely of Indian origin with an estimated net worth of $1M or more, based on public records such as property assessments, professional licenses, patents, SEC filings and donor rolls. Coverage is partial and depends on which public records exist and which we have processed. These counts are not population totals. Any cell under 25 is suppressed, and we publish aggregates only, never individual records.
